HOW IS THE MONEY USED IN OUR CAPTIVE PARROT WELFARE PROGRAM?
Money raised through sponsorship and donation supports rescue, rehoming, and quality care for our many wonderful captive parrots. See our educational WISH LIST for basic care needs.
Funds support the Rehoming Sanctuary and Care Education Facility housed in Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden in Key West, Fl.
A portion of the garden is retained as a small unique rainforest environment for unwanted parrots. Care education is offered to the visiting public. Two indoor bird rooms are retained on site for supplies and flock protection.
Caged parrots depend on people. They are highly intelligent complex creatures with special needs. Excellent care takes hard work, dedication and money. Parrots born in captivity or caught in the wild for the pet trade deserve respect, protection and quality care their entire lives. Some reportedly live to be 100 years old, many live 65 to 85 years.
